Changes in cash circulation: what to consider?

From March 2, 2026, banknotes in denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 10 hryvnias of the 2003-2007 models will be permanently withdrawn from circulation and replaced with the corresponding circulation coins.

These banknotes can no longer be used for cash payments. All retail chains, service enterprises, banks and financial institutions do not accept them for payment for goods, services and payments.

Why are the changes taking place?

▪️ Coins last much longer — up to 20-25 years
▪️ Wear out less often, which increases the quality of cash
▪️ Reduce the cost of manufacturing and processing banknotes

Where and how can banknotes be exchanged?

All citizens will have enough time to exchange:

•  In all branches of MTB Bank — within a year, until February 26, 2027
•  In the National Bank of Ukraine — indefinitely

We recommend:
✔️ Check your wallet, piggy banks and savings
✔️ If you have banknotes in denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 10 hryvnias — exchange them at our branches of MTB Bank without commissions and exchange fees
