Protect the number linked to your bank account

A regular phone number — is the key to all your finances, literally.
This is where you get:

• Confirmation codes
• Transaction notifications
• One-time passwords for logging into banking applications

If attackers get access to your SIM card — they gain control over:

•  your banking,
•  email,
•  social media accounts.

Sometimes this is enough to wipe out your account in a matter of minutes.

How exactly do they hack a number?

▪️ Through SIM-swap — porting your number to another SIM card (sometimes — using fake documents).
▪️ Through viral links or hacked mail, where access to mobile services is stored.
▪️ Through loss/theft of the phone, if there is no protection.

What to do to avoid falling into the trap:

• Set a PIN code on the SIM card.
• Require two-factor authentication for any changes to the mobile operator.
• Do not transfer your number in unsecured forms or chats.
• A separate number for banking — is also a good idea.
