SWIFT

SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications) is an international interbank system for transmitting information and making payments.

The SWIFT transfer system allows you to make foreign currency transfers to any country in the world for the benefit of individuals and legal entities.

SWIFT-transfers are optimal to pay for purchases that were made abroad, to book hotel rooms, to pay for education/training, rest or treatment, as well as for money transfers to relatives and friends.

Advantages of the SWIFT transfers:

  • You may make a quick and safety transfer virtually to any country in the world;
  • SWIFT-transfers always come to the specified account in a particular bank. Details indicated by the remitter promote the target payment comes strictly to its  destination;
  • The transfer will come within the specified period. And this is usually between  1 and 5 working days;
  • Funds may be transferred to accounts of both physical persons and legal entities;
  • Commission for transfer is quite acceptable especially when a cash remittance is large.

Overseas transfer of foreign currency by natural persons may be credited if operations have no trade nature and does not apply to transfers associated with entrepreneurial activity.

Resident natural persons in Ukraine may transfer foreign currency for the benefit of individuals and legal entities:

  • in the amount the equivalent of which does not exceed 400 000 hryvnias during one operating (working) day, from the current account in foreign currency without supporting documents;
  • in the amount the equivalent of which exceeds 400 000 hryvnias during one operating day, only from the current account in foreign currency and supported by documents which justify  the transfer grounds and documents which confirm the remitter’s financial status.

List of documents which justify the resident natural persons have grounds for transfer outside Ukraine: 

  • agreements (contracts);
  • invoices;
  • letters of settlement or letters of notification by non-resident legal  entities, authorized bodies of foreign countries;
  • letters from lawyers or notaries of foreign states;
  • claim statements, invitations (challenges);
  • document on family ties.

Fees for SWIFT-payments:

  • 0.8% min $ 25 US max $ 350 USA.

To send a transfer, you must

To make a SWIFT transfer in foreign currency :

beneficiary's bank name;

SWIFT-code of the beneficiary's bank;

beneficiary's account number (or international account number IBAN. IBAN details are required for SWIFT-transfers to Europe);

Beneficiary’s name (for individuals – last name, first name) and address (residency);

payment purpose (purpose, invoice number).

To make a SWIFT transfer in Russian rubles:

BIC (bank identifier code) of the beneficiary's bank;

correspondent account of the beneficiary's bank;

beneficiary's bank name;

Names, address, PIC (personal identification code) of the beneficiary;

Payment purpose (purpose, invoice number).
