Petr Nagulyak is the name well known to inhabitants of Odessa. He participated in lots of exhibitions, his works are in the Odessa Art Museum and in private collections of more than 20 countries worldwide. In his works the artist masters and develops the tradition of the southern Russian school of painting, lives the uninterrupted connection in time.

Through his powerful plein air paintings the southern Russian impressionists are returning, singers of sun and light, with pure childlike worshipful admiring beauty of fl eeting states of nature. His landscapes and still lifes refl ect the state of the fullness of light, it is a special gi< to see, feel and transmit the light spectrum of nature in his works.

The artist tirelessly works on sceneries, communicating with nature, embodying in his paintings not only the beauty of Odessa, but Crimea as well. The main thing for him is the play of colors. His sceneries represent rich triumphant colours with gradation from light blue to rich blue, from pale pink to bright red. Pictures of Petr Nagulyaka are either calm or strong and bright, depending on the day, the weather, the state of mind of the creator, on his vision of nature.

Spring is a time when nature awakens from its winter sleep, when the sun shines diff erently, so gently that the heart becomes warm - it's the favorite time of artist. In his works he embodies all these spring feelings, the joy that nature gives us. See how wonderful and elegantly artist chooses the composition of his paintings.

Petr Nagulyak in addition to the landscapes also works in the genre of still life. Most of them are also performed en plein air. So in the still life "Poppies" we see how the artist admires every stroke, their position on the canvas, like twinkling spots of light and shadow, as the sun rays penetrate the delicate petals of colorful fl owers and it seems like they're swinging at every breath of wind.

Tatiana Kazakova

Paintings of artist are simple, understandable to everyone, and there is neither plot nor hidden meaning in it. Yet there is something warm and pleasant, something of pure and sincere soul of the artist as only spiritually sensitive person can feel every movement of nature and its mood. All his works is a hymn to the blameless nature and is a hymn to the beauty - eternal, perfect. Though whatever the technological progress is, even though how hard we devastate the nature, polluting the environment, there will remain unharmed places in the world and will remain people who are the sons of nature, who cherish and protect the mankind. And artist makes us remember that we are the part of the nature.
